Rex Ryan officially took over as head coach of the Buffalo Bills on Monday, and arrived in town on Tuesday.

Best Coaching Fits For Rex Ryan

To welcome their new fearless leader, the organization greeted Ryan with a giant, custom-made pizza from a local restaurant by the name of La Nova.

Back in his early days in the league Rex might have gone to town on that pizza pie, but he's signifcantly slimmed down in recent years thanks to healthier personal habits and a lap-band surgical procedure. Although given that this is Buffalo he's coaching after all, wouldn't a bucket of wings have been more appropriate than pizza?

Rex was 50-52 in six years as head coach of the Bills' AFC East rivals, the New York Jets. Ryan took the Jets to back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances in 2009 and 2010, but struggled to records of 8-8, 6-10, 8-8, and 4-12 in the team's next four seasons.

The Jets Can't Give Their GM Job Away

Ryan inherits a Bills team from former coach Doug Marrone that is similar (albeit better) than his most recent Jets teams. Buffalo boasts a formidable defense, led by defensive end Mario Williams, but struggled on the offensive side of the football. Last year's starter Kyle Orton has retired and third-year player EJ Manuel has yet to prove he can be a quarterback at the pro level.
