Nobody gave the Ohio State Buckeyes much of a chance after they were down to their third string quarterback. People said they should not have made the playoff at all and that they certainly had no chance to beat Oregon, even after beating Alabama. Urban Meyer kept the faith in his team, and now he has to pay up on a promise he made to his players.

According to ESPN, Meyer made his team a deal in the locker room after defeating Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. He agreed that if the team won the national title, he would get himself a tattoo. Buckeyes tight end Jeff Heuerman backed up the story, saying, "He promised us after we beat 'Bama in the locker room that if we won the next one, he'd get a tattoo."

"I'll supervise it," Heuerman continued. "Trust me. I'm going to be right next to him. The first thing that went through my head is, 'Coach Meyer's getting a tattoo.'"

Several of the players are keen on seeing the coach follow through on his promise. "We have core values, and honesty is one of them, so he better not be lying," said star defensive end Joey Bosa.

To his credit, Meyer does seem intent on following through with his promise, and he has said that the block O logo that Ohio State uses is one of the designs he will consider. Meyer also said that he has not decided where he will get the tattoo.

"I'll be here bugging him about it until he gets it," Bosa added. "I'll go with him (to get it). I've already got my Block O."
