Two Atlanta radio hosts look like they may actually have to follow through with a bet they made about the team's performance this season. 680 The Fan's Chuck Oliver and Matt Chernoff stated prior to the start of the season that if the Atlanta Hawks win the NBA championship this season, then they would go to jail.
And according to Breslanta, they put no qualifiers on the statement, so not only will they go to jail, but they are willing to go to actual prison (and maybe not even White Collar Resort Prison). The duo were so eager to see the team win a title that they are willing to spend some time at Leavenworth or Riker's Island.
At the time, it seemed like a funny gag on the radio, as the Hawks opened the year with 100-to-1 odds of winning the championship. However, the team has surpassed all expectations to this point in the season, and they may have a real shot at winning the championship if they can stay healthy.

The Hawks are currently 26-8 on the year, and they lead the Eastern Conference by 1.5 games over the Chicago Bulls. And going beyond their record, they are impressing people whenever they play.
The team has lost only two games since Thanksgiving, and they have even played well whenever they have faced Western Conference opponents, which is important not only because they would face one in the NBA Finals, but also because the Western Conference boasts significantly better teams than the Eastern Conference does.
For their part, the radio hosts are standing by the deal they struck.
The Hawks are seriously trying to send us to prison. This club is really good. #threeHotsAndaCot

They may not even mind all that much.
