In 2014, Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt had a dream year. That included proving to be indestructible.

KHOU.com reported that a fire broke out in the home of a family in Katy, Texas on Dec. 28, destroying the bedroom of the family's son.

But one item left undamaged: a poster of Watt hanging on the wall.

KHOU reported that the fire started in the garage and then ventured into the home. Candi Sanderfer showed a reporter the damage in the house, leaving it a "charred mess".

The fire reportedly first spread to the bedroom of Sanderfer's son, Ryan Garza.

Candi Sanderfer told KHOU that everything around her son's room was damaged extensively. Except for the Watt poster.

"The mirror, the bed, even his Texans bedding is destroyed," said Sanderfer, pointing around the bedroom before stopping at the poster. "I even looked at the back of it and nothing. ... He's unstoppable, indestructible, for sure."

Watt already turned himself into legendary status with his 2014 season in which he had 20.5 sacks, becoming the first NFL player to record more than 20 sacks in back-to-back seasons. Watt was a first-team All-Pro Defensive End, Extramustard.SI.com reports, and was so dominant on defense that he even received five votes at defensive tackle and earned second-team All-Pro honors at that position.

He also scored five touchdowns - three as a wide receiver, one interception return and one fumble return. Watt is competing with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for NFL Player of the Year honors.

Meanwhile, the family whose home was destroyed begins to put its life back in order. KHOU reported that most of the items are replaceable.

Fortunately, the family escaped unharmed, but it did lose valuable mementos of Garza's older brother, 17-year-old Javier Torres, whom KHOU reported was murdered two years ago, allegedly by a father and son.
