Harbaugh never had a losing season in San Francisco, and took the Niners to three straight NFC Championship Game appearances (and one Super Bowl) between 2011 and 2013. However, Harbaugh had personality clashes with the team's upper management throughout the season, and a separation has seemed inevitable for months.
UM Considering Multiple NFL Coaches Besides Harbaugh
The University of Michigan extended Harbaugh a six-year, $48 million dollar offer to lead the Wolverines, and reps from the school even traveled to the Bay Area to discuss the deal with Harbaugh in-person this weekend. Fox Sports reported that Harbaugh will be flying to Ann Arbor on Monday morning, and may be announced as the new coach of Michigan as early as Tuesday.

Landing Harbaugh is a major coup for interim UM athletic director Jim Hackett. Many in the media predicted that Harbaugh would spurn the school's advances in favor of remaining in the NFL ranks. The program has languished in mediocrity in the second decade of the 21st century. There's no doubt that bringing Harbaugh aboard will provide a massive schematic and recruiting boost for the program.
