Rex Ryan's tenure with the New York Jets probably ends on Black Monday next week, but the six-year head coach is confident that his Super Bowl proclamation will come true someday.

“I see myself winning it as a head coach,” Ryan told the New York Post. “I definitely see it. If that happens, I guess we’ll find out.”

Although Ryan's Jets have suffered through an ugly 3-12 season, the coach did not back down from his self-assessment.

"I can coach football, and I know that," he said. "I think that’s what gives me the belief that one day I’m gonna win that thing."

Rex Ryan's tenure with the Jets started with a bang. He led the team to two straight AFC Championship appearance in 2009 and 2010, and coached up one of the league's best defenses, anchored by star cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie.

However, the team suffered from an exodus of talent and a series of failed draft and free agency decisions beginning in 2011, and neither Mark Sanchez nor Geno Smith ever developed into a competent quarterback.

After missing the postseason for the fourth straight year, Jets owner Woody Johnson is expected to clean house at season's end, which would mean the firing of both Rex Ryan and GM John Idzik.

If Ryan is ultimately fired, he may still have another chance to win that Super Bowl he believes he's capable of winning -- the Dolphins, Bears, and Falcons all may be interested in his services should he hit the coaching market.
