The Dodgers announced the unfortunate episode on their official twitter account, and asked fans for aid in the search. Thankfully, the mystery lasted less than ten minutes.

Great news! Vin Scully's 1988 World Series ring has been found. (This was not a drill -- Vin thanks everyone for their concern.) — Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) December 18, 2014
Turns out that Scully lost the ring while shopping for ribs at Costco. You read that correctly.
Scully spoke to Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times on Friday about the whole mini-ordeal.
“I said, ‘Oh my God, I’ve lost my ring,’" recounts Scully. “I kept telling myself, ‘A ring is only a thing, it’s only a thing,’ but I felt so terrible."
Elias Rahhal, the manager of the Costco in question, painstakingly helped Scully retrace his steps in search of the ring. "I went into a panic, I assured him we'd do everything to help find the ring, Vin is like family to us," said Rahhal.
Within minutes Scully was able to locate the missing piece of memorabilia -- it was buried deep in a bag of discount ribs.
