Barcelona, Neymar Close To Deal? Real Madrid, Paris-St. Germain, Manchester City Could Be In Mix

Neymar, one of the most hotly sought-after transfer prospects in the soccer universe, could be headed to Barcelona to team up with the world's best player, Leo Messi, according to reports.

The 21-year-old attacker, who has played for Santos since 2009, is said to be deep into talks to join Barcelona this summer. When asked about the possibility of adding Neymar's talent and star power, Messi said he'd love to bring him aboard.

"Only the player knows if he will sign for the club or not, nobody else knows," Messi said. "For us he would be a marvelous addition. He is the type of player who offers individual solutions different from the rest. He is a great player, who is very good in one-on-ones with opponents."

There is no guarantee that Neymar is leaving just yet, but Santos coach Muricy Ramalho has hinted it would not be a shock to see his star skip town. "There were rumors before and nothing happened," Ramalho said. "But this time they really seem more serious. The rumors have picked up steam. When the market opens, we know there is this possibility. It will be a huge loss, the club will miss him."

As per ESPNFC.com, talks for Neymar to switch clubs are complicated by a number of interests owning his "rights." Santos representative Odilio Rodrigues said that all parties concerned are trying to make a deal happen.

"The conversations with Barca are continuing," Rodrigues said. "Neymar wants to leave and we are trying to achieve an agreement. If there is a good offer for Santos, and for the player, we will analyze it. We will receive offers from other European clubs."

There is speculation that Santos is attempting to stir up an auction situation, involving soccer heavyweights Real Madrid, Paris-St. Germain, and Manchester City that could drive up the price for Neymar.

However, Neymar is said to be intent on joining Messi with Barcelona, so their 35 million euro bid is expected to hold.
