For coaches in the southeast, they must constantly compete against the giants of the Southeastern Conference when they are battling for recruits. Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers have taken to using a rather unique recruiting advantage when they give their recruiting pitch to prospective players.
Spurrier's Comments Hurting Gamecocks' Recruiting?
According to media reports, the Tigers have taken to asking Santa Claus for help when they try to convince recruits to come to Clemson. Apparently, Santa Claus is a Clemson alum from 1896. Head coach Dabo Swinney likes to have his old friend send a letter to his prospective players.
An elf passed this along to us from some guy up north to give to future members of the #ClemsonFamily. #Santa pic.twitter.com/n9OQ8v3brq

It certainly is an interesting tactic. There is no word on whether the the letter has helped sway any recruits to join the program.
Bama Fans Pull Guns On Burglars
Perhaps a more successful strategy would be to continue to beat in-state rival South Carolina. The Tigers beat the Gamecocks in 2014 for the first time since 2008. The team hopes the win will enable them to get back to landing the best recruits from within the state after watching players like Alshon Jeffrey and JaDeveon Clowney join their bitter rivals for the last several years.
