The New York Rangers will host the Boston Bruins tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NHL's Eastern Conference semifinals. The game will be on NBC Sports Network and can be live streamed for free here. Rangers fans who want to listen to the game can do so by turning their dials to 98.7 ESPN FM while Bruins fans can listen in at 98.5 The Sports Hub.
The Rangers are in a 2-0 hole in this second round series, and lost by a three-goal margin in Game 2. Despite the lopsided score, and the tightness of their 3-2 Game 1 overtime loss, Rangers coach John Tortorella believes his team played better in the second game.
"The first game, the score doesn't indicate the game," Tortorella said. "We probably should've lost by more." Tortorella also said he was encouraged by Game 2. "After watching the tape, which always helps me the next day one way or another, there were a lot of good things."
One thing that cannot be considered a good thins is the Rangers power play struggles; while they were the eighth-worst team in the NHL on the power play during the regular season, they have posted a 5.6 power play percentage in the playoffs, the second worst amongst all postseason participants. Despite that, and the fact that their best player, Rick Nash, has just one postseason goal, Tortorella is not read to go down without a fight.
"You don't want to be down 2-0," Tortorella said. "We know what hole we're in, but by no means is this a really bad thing. We need to win a game and try to get momentum on our side.
Brad Marchand, who scored the game-winning goal in Game 1, made clear that the Bruins are not resting on their laurels with the two-game advantage. "We know we can't take them lightly. We've got to make sure we go to New York being very hungry and ready to go out hard."
