ST. LOUIS CARDINALS vs SAN DIEGO PADRES Watch Live Stream Online & Listen: Live Coverage from PETCO PARK SAN DIEGO

Adam Wainwright (5-3, 2.51 ERA) one of the best starting pitchers in baseball this year, will take the hill for the St. Louis Cardinals tonight against the San Diego Padres in Petco Park at 10:10 p.m. The game can be live streamed for free here or at MLB.com for a fee. Cardinals fans can listen in at KMOX 1120 while Padres fanatics can enjoy the action at XPRS 1090.

Wainwright, the ace of the Cardinals' staff, will be looking to put an end to St. Louis' five-game losing skid against the Padres. Wainwright has had exceptional control since day one of the 2013 season; in nine starts Wainwright has racked up 63 strikeouts in 64.1 innings while walking just five batters. That is not good news for the Padres, who are the fourth-worst team in the National League in terms of striking out.

The Padres, on the other hand, may have a tough time controlling the Cardinals' potent lineup with Edinson Volquez (3-4, 5.55 ERA) on the mound. Volquez can never find consistency, despite his often-electric stuff. He had been turning his season around before a woeful showing against Washington Thursday night, in which he lasted just five innings and gave up five runs while walking four.

"It was my fault. I'm supposed to pitch seven, eight innings," said Volquez. "I walked a couple guys in the beginning of (innings). ... That's something I've got to stop doing."

The Cardinals have scored the fourth-most runs (203) in the National League and have the third-fewest strikeouts in the NL as a team. In particular, Matt Holliday has tortured Volquez, going 7-for-17 with two home runs against him. This season Holliday is hitting .266 with six home runs and 26 RBI.
