In the wake of the recent death of Eric Garner at the hands of police officers, many athletes have voiced their opinions about the matter. Some high-profile athletes have even taken to warming up in shirts that read "I can't breathe," which were Garner's final words as he was choked to death.

Do not expect to see Rajon Rondo joining the list of athletes wearing those shirts. According to media reports, Rondo has no interest in wearing one of the shirts to make a political statement.

"Everybody's different," Rondo told the Herald in Charlotte, N.C., after the Celtics game against the Hornets on Wednesday. "To each his own. And I definitely support the guys that have worn the T-shirts, but I haven't reached out to anybody or had anybody reach out to me about wearing a T-shirt, so I'm just going to continue to do what I do."

Of course there is nothing that requires Rondo to wear one of the shirts, but it does give pause momentarily, particularly when so many other athletes are donning the attire, especially NBA players. Reggie Bush, Derrick Rose, and LeBron James have all worn the shirts recently. In fact, before a recent Cavaliers-Nets game, many players on both teams wore the shirts during warm ups.

Rondo is having a bit of a down year for the Celtics on the court, although he is still posting the all-around numbers that many think make him one of the best two-way point guards in the game. Rondo is averaging 8.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 10.6 assists, and 1.6 steals on the year. The Celtics are 7-13 on the season.
