The National League West leading San Francisco Giants are ready to play Game 2 of a four-game set with the scrappy Colorado Rockies, who sit in third place, just three games out of first. The game can be live streamed for free by clicking this link, or here with a subscription fee. Rockies fans can listen to the game on KOA 850 while Giants fans should tune in to KNBR 680. First pitch is scheduled for 8:40 p.m.
Madison Bumgarner (4-1, 2.18 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Giants, who took an 8-6 win last night from the Rockies. Bumgarner figures to be a tall task for the Rockies lineup to conquer; he has gone six or more innings in seven of his eight starts in 2013, and has only once given up more than two runs.
Atlanta Braves third baseman Chris Johnson, who faced Bumgarner in his last turn, had this to say about the Giants' left-hander, who is rapidly ascending to the role of staff ace. "He's nasty. For me, he is one of the best lefties in the game. He throws his cutter in to righties. He makes righties feel uneasy."
Jorge De La Rosa (4-3, 2.98 ERA) of the Rockies is no slouch either, however. He has not allowed a single run over his last 14 innings of work. Rockies manager Walt Weiss said of De La Rosa, "He's dominated some good lineups in this league. When he's commanding his stuff, he's one of the tougher left-handers in the National League."
The Rockies have been one of the most surprising teams in baseball this season, thanks largely to health in their lineup. Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez have remained off the disabled list so far, and together they are batting .310 with 17 home runs, 54 RBI, and a .972 on base plus slugging percentage.
