Michael Sam still has plenty to say about the NFL and all of the media attention that surrounded him after he was drafted and became the first openly gay NFL player.

Sam was drafted by the St. Louis Rams. He failed to make it past the final round of roster cuts, but he was later added to the Dallas Cowboys practice squad. The Cowboys released Sam a few weeks ago in order to sign some players they needed as injury replacements.

Brady Dismises Title Talk

Sam recently gave an interview with GQ Magazine where he opened up about his entire NFL experience. According to media reports, Sam told GQ that he did not want to come out the way that he did, but his hand was forced.

"I would have done the same thing I did at Mizzou - which was to tell my team and my coaches and leave it at that. But the recruiters know, and reporters knew, and they talked to each other, and it got out."

Sam also had strong words about the way he was treated by his NFL teammates, saying, "In St. Louis, they welcomed me, but I felt they were just putting smiles on their faces. It was because they didn't know my future. It was almost like the situation with a stray dog - you don't want to get too close. In Dallas, they were more welcoming."

Sam is currently a free agent, meaning he is free to sign with any team that wants him. Given that the NFL season is nearly over, it seems unlikely that Sam will get another chance with an NFL team this year unless it is as an injury replacement.
