Transfer wishlists took a massive blow on Thursday, with Spanish radio El Larguero (via AS) reporting that Sami Khedira has signed a pre-contract deal with Bayern Munich. Khedira, who will be out of contract in June 2015, rejected offers from the Bavarian club last season. A change of fortunes allowed the 27-year-old to reconsider.

Per the report, Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has given his approval to the acquisition, with the club willing to pay a substantial salary.

A mainstay in the midfield under Jose Mourinho, Khedira struggled for minutes under Carlo Ancelotti. A long-term cruciate ligament injury suffered in 2013 forced him out of favor at the Santiago Bernabeu. The arrivals of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Isco and James Rodriguez didn't help matters, either.

That, however, will change following a recent thigh injury suffered by Modric during the international break. Khedira's value in the Spanish capital has never been higher, something Ancelotti readily accepts. "The club wants [Khedira] to sign a contract extension," he told Spanish radio station RNE (via Fox Sports). "We consider him a reliable player, who is serious and professional."

With Modric expected to be out of action until 2015, Khedira will receive one final chance to prove his worth at the Santiago Bernabeu. Just don't expect that to be enough to keep from Munich. El Largero doesn't feel it will influence his decision to leave the club.
