John Cena recently opened up about the upcoming main event between Team Cena and Team Authority at the Survivor Series this Sunday live from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

Updated Stipulation For Team Cena vs. Team Authority, Traditional Match Added To Card

Cena sat down with Michael Cole and discussed the match that will see him team up with Dolph Ziggler, The Big Show, Ryback and Erick Rowan to battle a squad captained by Seth Rollins that also includes Corporate Kane, Mark Henry, United States Champion Rusev and Intercontinental Champion Luke Harper.

Cole said Sunday is not about championships as WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar won't be in attendance, but there is a big stipulation as The Authority will lose their power if Rollins' team loses.

"I wanna address something you said first, that Survivor Series isn't about championships," Cena said. "The championship is not being defended at Survivor Series, but if you look what The Authority has done, how they treated Daniel Bryan. They pretty much did everything they could to take the championship away from a deserving competitor. Then they go out and hire a mercenary in Brock Lesnar because they don't want John Cena to be champion. I disagree with you, I think Survivor Series is all about championships because as we've seen with The Authority, when they're in power, they decide who the champion is and no competitor -- if they stand against The Authority -- is given a fair shot."

Cena also addressed the risk his teammates are taking by siding with him in his crusade against The Authority.

"As far as my teammates, I have given that a lot of thought. I'm asking them to make a leap of faith, I understand that," Cena said. "I'm asking them to make an unpopular decision. I'm asking them in essence to put their livelihood on the line. I know that Stephanie McMahon and Triple H will know each person that stands by my side and hold that with vengeance, that's why we gotta win."

Cole asked Cena if he thought about the ramifications of The Authority losing and the mystery surrounding who would run the WWE if Team Cena wins Sunday night.

"First of all the WWE is built off of spur of the moment entertainment, live as it happens action," he said. "Yes, we know what we get with The Authority. And what we get isn't what the WWE Universe wants. I said last week that if we do win, I don't wanna be the boss. I have no business being the boss. The boss should be the WWE Universe...They know what they want to see, they know who they wanna see, let's try it. Let's try something new, let's let them be in charge. Let's for once let the people who matter most control the show."

Lastly, Cole asked Cena if he believes that his team will get the win in St. Louis at the 28th annual Survivor Series.

"We have to win Sunday, we have to," he said. "I don't ever see an opportunity like this presenting itself again where the people in power will be forcefully removed from power...This is a situation where Vince McMahon himself has made this interesting. And in the realm of making it interesting, he's made it important to every WWE Superstar. I hope we win, I hope The Authority is gone...As long as The Authority sits at that desk, myself and quite honestly anybody who fights with me or anyone who is associated with me from here on out, their lives are gonna be a living hell, and that's just not fair. That's not best for business."
