Despite the fact that it's been nearly 10 months since CM Punk left the WWE, it remains a hot topic among wrestling fans, spectators and Superstars. Rob Van Dam, who works for the WWE now on a part-time basis, recently opened up about his thoughts on the "Best in the World" leaving the WWE.

RVD appeared on the latest episode of Talk Wrestling and shared his thoughts on Punk walking out on the WWE in January.

"I imagine he will come back because I think there's unfinished business there," RVD said. "But, honestly I don't care nearly as much as everyone else does. But it is cool that they do care. You know, it's awesome for him that so many people are so excited. It's great to be in demand like that. Like if someone tells me, 'Dude there's an RVD chant on Monday Night RAW tonight,' and I'm not even there it's like oh man that's pretty cool. Well he gets the CM Punk chant all the time."

RVD continued: "I think he left before my run even started last time. Anyway, I've always liked him. He's a real straight forward [guy]. He doesn't seem to put up with anything and I like observing that about him. Just because somebody could look at him and say that he's like...I'm gonna say bratty for lack of a better word coming to mind right now, but for the same things I can see it as if well he's not budging. He's not putting up with anything and that can be respectable and I respect that about him."

Punk walked out on the WWE back in January likely due to his frustration and from being burned out due to the company's rigorous traveling schedule, but he has kept himself busy outside of the squared circle.

AMC announced that Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, will return to the network's Talking Dead program that airs after the popular zombie drama The Walking Dead this Sunday night. Punk's appearance will take place at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday..

Punk also has an upcoming gig with Marvel for a project that is due to come out in February.

Punk has made many public appearances since his departure from the WWE, but has not shown any desire to come back to the ring anytime soon, even going as far as to tell a reporter at the AP Music Awards that he was "never ever" returning to the squared circle.

The WWE has kept the mentions of Punk to a minimum, even keeping his cameo appearance in the WWE Studios movie Queen of the Ring out of advertisements on YouTube and WWE.com.

Punk has been gone from the WWE for 10 months, but many people within the WWE Universe are hopeful he will return once again sometime down the line.
