We're coming down to the wire of the college football regular season, which means that the key contenders in the Heisman Trophy race are beginning to take shape.

1. Jameis Winston

Winston took the award last year during FSU's championship season, and his numbers are once again off-the-charts good.

Moreover, the Seminoles are undefeated and rolling. However, Winston probably won't join Archie Griffin as the only other player to win dual Heismans, given that voters are likely to be scared away by a host of off-field red flags.

2. Marcus Mariota

The Oregon QB presides over one of the most high-octane offenses in college football, and after a surprisingly early season loss to Arizona, the Ducks are humming once more. Mariota's ball security is other-worldly; so far he has 29 touchdowns versus only 2 interceptions, and he didn't throw his first pick until November 1st!

3. Dak Prescott

The Mississippi State signal caller went from a zero to a household name by leading the Bulldogs to an unlikely undefeated record in the vaunted SEC gauntlet. A win vs. Alabama and a spot in the inaugural NCAA playoff will go a long way toward boosting Prescott's Heisman argument.

4. Amari Cooper

Cooper's chances of winning the Heisman aren't likely (only 3 of the last 15 winners weren't quarterbacks, and none of them were wide receivers), but he deserves the invitation to New York to be welcomed as a finalist. Cooper's scored a touchdown in six of Alabama's nine games, and has two 200-yard receiving games on the season. This kid's a stud.
