Boston Red Sox Rumors: Pablo Sandoval Push Increases For BoSox, Team 'All In' On Free Agent 3B [VIDEO]

The Boston Red Sox appear to be in the market for free agent third baseman Pablo Sandoval and the team has been described by one source as "all in" on the Kung Fu Panda.

According to ESPN Boston, the Red Sox are making a big push for Sandoval and have even met with his agent to see what it would take to land one of the biggest bats on the free agent market.

The 5-foot-11, 245 pound Sandoval would be a great fit for Boston as it needs a durable third baseman and as a switch-hitter, he brings an interesting dynamic to the team's lineup.

Red Sox general manager Bill Cherington confirmed that the team met with Sandoval's agent and he told CBS Sports that the two sides had a "constructive" conversation.

"We've met with several [agents and had good constructive conversations with a lot of guys already," Cherington told the affiliate. "All those conversations will continue. I don't expect anything to happen this week, or maybe in the near term. This may play out. I expect many [conversations] to continue over the next few weeks."

The three-time World Series champion has been said to be in the market for a six-year deal worth $90-100 million. The slugging third baseman turned down a one-year $15.3 million qualifying offer from the Giants, so whatever team he ends up on would have to forfeit a draft pick upon signing him.

Sandoval, 28, hit .279 with 16 homers and 73 RBI in the regular season through 157 games and then continued to pad his solid October resume by hitting .366 this postseason with seven doubles and five RBI.

Sandoval hit .429 in the seven-game World Series win over the Kansas City Royals and hit three doubles while driving in four runs. Sandoval also squeezed the final out on a pop up to third base to secure San Francisco's World Series win in what could have been his final play as a member of the Giants.

The two-time All-Star has spent all seven of his MLB seasons in San Francisco and took home the World Series MVP Award in 2012, but he wasn't open to talking about giving the Giants a hometown discount.

San Francisco was hopeful to lock something up with Sandoval, but for now it appears as though they have a lot of competition.

"We've engaged, but I'll leave it at that," Giants general manager Brian Sabean said last week, according to ESPN. "We're three days in, so that's the best answer I can give."

The Red Sox are trying hard to land Sandoval and it is possible that the Kung Fu Panda wears a different uniform for the first time in his career in 2015.
