The phrase, "Remember the Alamo!" has taken on a whole new meaning in Oakland, Calif., for the time being.

CBSSports.com, using a tweet from Bleacher Report reporter Jason Cole, reported the meeting between San Antonio city officials and Oakland Raiders officials in Oakland is a ruse, in which Raiders owner Mark Davis wants to see which location will step up and make an acceptable offer to house his team next season - Oakland or Los Angeles

.

San Antonio officials say they have a 50-50 chances of luring the Raiders out of Oakland

In other words, Davis is using San Antonio to get Oakland or Los Angeles to sweeten the deal to serve as the Raiders' home.

CBSSports.com lauded Davis' course of action in talking with San Antonio officials.

Special NFL meeting this month may be first step in the Rams and Raiders both relocating to Los Angeles

"No surprise there: it's exactly what he should be doing while trying to get a new deal," CBSSports.com wrote.

CBSSports.com added that a return to Los Angeles hinges only on "whether the other NFL owners believe Davis can do it the right way."

It's not entirely clear what "the right way" means - whether it is referring to securing a satisfactory stadium in Los Angeles or not leaving Oakland in the middle of the night as the Cleveland Browns did when they jettisoned to Baltimore and became the Ravens in 1996.

The Raiders' lease at O.co Coliseum will end after the 2014 season. Officials in Oakland, Los Angeles, San Antonio and Portland all have inquired about staying (in Oakland's case) or becoming the home of the Raiders.

The Raiders were hoping to secure a new stadium; currently they share O.co Coliseum with the Oakland A's.

San Antonio's hopes for acquiring an NFL team, meanwhile, could be further away than their city officials believe, CBSSports.com says.

An NFL team jumping to San Antonio wasn't going to happen, not with Los Angeles and London potentially on the table in coming years.
