Where They Stand:
No. 24 Duke Blue Devils (6-1, 2-1 ACC)
Pittsburgh Panthers (-3.5) (4-4, 2-2 ACC)
The No. 24 Duke Blue Devils find themselves ranked for the first time this season since taking everyone in the ACC by surprise last season.
The Blue Devils stressed that this new ranking cannot be a distraction and coach David Cutcliffe said that the two-year body of work is one of the more impressive resumes in the country.
"The two-year body of work has been exceptional," Cutcliffe said. "We all know it can go away as fast as it comes sometimes, but it should make you hungry. ... Moving forward, it's meaningless unless we continue to play well."
"But now everybody's mindset is a lot different," he added. "We're not really proud of just being ranked. We want to keep on climbing the ladder.”
Even as the No. 24 team in the nation, the Blue Devils get no respect from Las Vegas as Duke comes in as a three-point underdog against a Pittsburgh team that is coming off a 56-28 loss to Georgia Tech.
Pittsburgh leads the all-time series against Duke 10-8 and the Panthers topped the Blue Devils in four-straight contests. Duke's last win against Pittsburgh came in 1966 and the Panthers beat Duke 58-55 last season.
