There have been mixed reports as to when John Cena will earn his WWE World Heavyweight Championship shot against Brock Lesnar, but it appears as though the two could clash at the Royal Rumble in January.

The WWE will present the Royal Rumble, which is the first pay-per-view of 2015, live from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Jan. 25, 2015. There was always speculation that the WWE would throw the Cena vs. Lesnar match during that event, but the arena's advertisements stated that Cena would be in the 30-man Rumble Match.

This led to confusion as to when Cena, who earned the No. 1 contender position to Lesnar's title by defeating Randy Orton in a cell match at Hell in a Cell, would get his title shot against Lesnar.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Cena vs. Lesnar is still penciled in for the Royal Rumble, meaning the advertisement from the Wells Fargo Center was probably a mistake.

There has been some speculation that the two could engage in a bout at Tables, Ladders and Chairs in December, but there have also been reports that Lesnar will not be wrestling in a WWE ring until January.

Lesnar and Cena's clash will be the fourth time they battle on pay-per-view, with the latest being at Night of Champions in September and seeing Cena defeat Lesnar by disqualification after interference from Seth Rollins.

It has been rumored for a while now that Lesnar will face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. on March 29, 2015, and that remains the plan for the WWE. It appears as though Lesnar will retain against Cena at the Royal Rumble and go on to face Reigns at the Show of Shows.

That same night, Reigns is likely to win the Rumble Match to earn his title shot at WrestleMania 31.

There have been reports that Reigns (hernia) is likely to return by December or January, but there is some fear he may miss the Royal Rumble, but be back in time by WrestleMania.

It seems like the WWE's plans have been set in stone for a while and Lesnar will face Cena at the Royal Rumble and then battle Reigns at WrestleMania 31.
