Throughout Geno Smith's numerous rocky performances this season, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has remained steadfast in his quarterback's corner.
But that might have changed after Smith tossed three interceptions in six plays during the first quarter during a 43-23 home loss Sunday to the Buffalo Bills.
Ryan benched Smith after the embarrassing performance and left him on the sideline for the remainder of the game. He turned to veteran Michael Vick, who had two fumble and an interception against the Bills.
Though the Jets failed to pull out a victory, the offense showed enough improvement under Vick's leadership that Ryan has decided not to look back.
The coach announced Monday that Vick will start Sunday against the Chiefs in Kansas City.
Michael Vick's first game as the Jets' starter will be against Chiefs coach Andy Reid, who gave him a second chance in Philly.

"This is not looking long-term, this is about the immediate," Ryan said. "My focus is just on that and that's on Kansas City and trying to find a way to get a win. And that's why this decision was made."
