The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to be sellers come Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline and the two names that are expected to be moved are a familiar running back, wide receiver combo.
The Buccaneers are rumored to be interested in moving both running back Doug Martin and wide receiver Vincent Jackson before Tuesday’s trade deadline, while many believe Martin is the more likely of the two to be traded.
Green Bay Packers Lose Aaron Rodgers to injury?
“Teams have already approached Tampa Bay about Martin, and some around the league believe that the Buccaneers would be willing to deal him for the right price before Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET trade deadline, according to sources.
But it's a tough trade to cobble together.”
The New England Patriots are a common name heard when discussing Jackson and Martin, but the San Diego Chargers are also interested in Martin if he becomes available for the right price. Jackson would provide the deep threat that the Patriots have lacked since Randy Moss departed the team in 2010 and Martin would be a replacement for the injured Stevan Ridley.
The Chargers could use Martin's services due to the fact that they have lost Donald Brown and Ryan Mathews for a extended amount of time this season.
Martin has been limited by numerous injuries since rushing for 1,454 and 11 touchdowns his rookie season and has been one of the bigger disappointments on the 1-6 Buccaneers. Jackson is simply expendable as rookie Mike Evans is a clone copy of the veteran receiver and is in the team’s long-term plans.
