Pakistan took control by bowling out Australia for 303 runs and building a lead of 189 on Day 3. Pakistan returned to bat with a 151-run advantage and then also added 38 runs without loss in the last 13 overs, putting them even further ahead. Rahat Ali, Zulfiqar Babar and Yasir Shah all played very well and did a good job confusing their opponents.

David Warner recorded his third century in consecutive innings with 133 runs, but each of the other Australia batsmen were neutralized.

"It obviously comes with age and the more times you go out in the middle the more you realize what you can do," Warner said about his recent success, according to ESPNCricinfo. "It's been a great last 12 months but I've got a long career ahead of me if I keep scoring runs. There was a lot going through my head 12 months ago and I knew, either knuckle down or I won't play again for Australia. So I spoke to my parents, I spoke to [his partner] Candice and we came up with a solution to switch on and focus and get back to what I want to do and that was play cricket for Australia."

Chris Rogers and Mitchell Johnson added disappointing but respectable scores of 38 ad 37, respectively, but team captain Michael Clarke only put up a single-digit score, as did Alex Doolan.
