Kentucky Wildcats (5-2, 2-2 SEC)

No. 1 Mississippi State will take the field for the first time since being named the AP Poll No. 1 team as they look to improve against a 5-2 Kentucky Wildcats team.

Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen said that the team is soaking up the praise, but they now understand that being the No. 1 team in country comes with the burden of getting every team’s best punch.

"We're going into a game with a target on our back," Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen said. "Having to go on the road in a hostile environment ... against one of the most improved teams in college football this year. Our guys better learn how to handle that and make sure we have unbelievable focus about how big of a game this really is.”

This is Dak Prescott and the rest of the Bulldogs' last chance to impress the College Football Playoff Selection Committee as the first ranking comes out on Tuesday. A win against Kentucky probably won’t turn any heads, but to beat a conference opponent in your first appearance as No. 1 in the country can only do good things.

Prescott cane also improve on his Heisman Trophy campaign with a great showing against the Wildcats. The Bulldogs still have to play No. 4 Alabama on November 15 and No. 3 Ole Miss on November 29.

Kentucky leads the all-time series against Mississippi State 21-20, but the Bulldogs have won the last five against the Wildcats. Mississippi State topped Kentucky 28-22 in 2013.
