Virginia Tech Hokies (-1) (4-3, 1-2 ACC)

The Virginia Tech Hokies play host to their ACC rivals in the Miami Hurricanes in the second game of ESPN’s Thursday Night Football slate.

This ACC battle will come down to quarterback play for Miami and how well running back Marshawn Williams runs the ball for Virginia. Hurricanes quarterback Brad Kaaya has not seen a pass rush like the one Virginia Tech will bring, but coach Al Golden thinks the game will come down to how well the team stops Williams

“He’ll play, I think obviously, they’re going to establish the run with Williams in there. They made some changes to the offensive line. You can tell the guys they put in there played well for them, especially in the second half of [the Pittsburgh game] and it sounds like that’s the way they’re going to go…this is a big back. We’re going to have to tackle him.”

Virginia Tech is making some swaps on the offensive line this week after an upsetting loss to the Pittsburgh Panthers. Virginia Tech now finds themselves out of the AP Top 25 and fighting for their ACC lives against the Hurricanes. Miami sits at 1-2 in the ACC as well and both teams trail a 2-1 Duke at the top of the Coastal Division.

Miami leads the all-time series against Virginia Tech 18-13, but the Hokies have won four of the last five against the Hurricanes. Virginia Tech topped Miami last season 42-24.
