The No. 18 East Carolina Pirates go for their third win in the American Conference against a Connecticut team that is looking for their first win in the conference.

The Pirates have won four straight games since their Week 2 loss to then-No. 21 South Carolina. The Pirates top win this season is beating then-No. 17 Virginia Tech who has since fallen off to a 2-2 record. East Carolina is firmly in the AP Top 25, but coach Ruffin McNeill believes the American Conference could cause some issues.

"In this (league), we know we're going to have to overcome some adversity," coach Ruffin McNeill said. "We know we're going to have to persevere in some things, mistakes that we may make. To do that, it takes a strong character within your team.”

East Carolina quarterback Shane Carden has played well this season and Huskies coach Bob Diaco believes he is the real deal.

"He is outstanding. He is one of the best, most productive players in the country," Huskies coach Bob Diaco. "One of the most productive players in their history and he has some very talented players to get the ball to.”

Coach Diaco went on to speak about UConn’s opportunity in this game and said they have to seize their chance to make noise in the conference.

"What a great opportunity and a fun opportunity, you got to be looking forward to these moments," Diaco said. "This is why you put your pads on and come to work to have these exciting chances.”

This is the first meeting between East Carolina and Connecticut.
