Tim Tebow Dolphins: Dolphins Not Interested In Tim Tebow Despite Rumors, Florida Connection

Tim Tebow, recently released by the New York Jets, has had his name thrown about in all sorts of rumors. He was offered a job as a quarterbacks coach in the Legends Football League, formerly known as the Lingerie Football League. It's well known that the CFL's Montreal Alouettes are willing to bring Tebow in, provided he is willing to compete for a backup job. Rumors of a union with the Jacksonville Jaguars persist.

However, a new rumor involving the Miami Dolphins has cropped up. Tebow joining the Dolphins would set the already scorching Miami sports scene, which is home to basketball's reigning king LeBron James and favorite son Dwyane Wade, ablaze.

Team sources have said that the team is not interested in the wildly popular quarterback, despite Tebow's Heisman pedigree as a member of a BCS championship-winning Florida Gators squad. Another source wouldn't rule out the possibility but added "it hasn't been discussed."

Despite success with the Denver Broncos in the wins column, Tebow's completed less than 50 percent of his passes in his three NFL seasons, has been sacked 41 times and owns a career quarterback rating of just 75.3. In addition to all that, many around the league view his early success with the Broncos as fluky.

Piling onto the problems with the Tebow-to-Miami thinking is the presence of second-year passer Ryan Tannehill, whom the Dolphins drafted in the first round of the 2012 draft. Tannehill showed promise last year, completing 58.3 percent of his passes and throwing 12 touchdowns despite having one of the NFL's worst receiving units. He also dealt with nagging injuries to the team's top rusher, Reggie Bush, which limited the effectiveness of the offense as a whole.

Once, when asked if he would have drafted Tebow, Jaguars owner Shad Khan said he "100 percent absolutely would have." Having seen the massive distraction that can be created by his presence though, he has backed off.

It seems the rest of the league has done the same, including the Dolphins.
