The No. 19 Nebraska Cornhuskers look to avoid the upset bug as they travel to Evanston to face the Northwestern Wildcats.

The Nebraska-Northwestern series has been odd since the Cornhuskers joined the conference in 2011. No matter where each team has stood going into the matchup, they play each other incredibly tough. The teams have met three times since 2011 and those games have been decided by a total of seven points.

Nebraska coach Bo Pelini spoke about the series and what was going through his mind when his team won last year on a Hail Mary.

"They've been kind of strange games to say the least," Nebraska coach Bo Pelini said Monday. "They're a well-coached football team that plays hard and is sound in what they do, and they make you earn everything you get."

"What do I remember about the Hail Mary?" Pelini said. "I remember thinking we shouldn't be in this situation, but we are, and we're very fortunate to come out of it with a win.”

Nebraska leads the all-time series against Northwestern 5-2, including four of the last five games. Nebraska is coming off their only loss of the season against rival then-No. 10 Michigan State.
