Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell and his defense attorney say that they expect a resolution on the marijuana possession and driving under the influence charges in the near future.

Bell’s lawyer, Robert Del Greco, said that he expects his client will be accepted into a probation program for first time offenders as well as serve a year on probation and his arrest record expunged. Del Greco acknowledged that his client has been tested for drugs weekly under NFL rules and will likely be suspended by the league once the case wraps up.

''By all indications from what I can tell, hopefully Le'Veon will never be standing next to a criminal defense attorney again,'' Del Greco said.

The 22-year-old Bell and his teammate LeGarrette Blount were arrested on Aug. 20 after an officer pulled them over and smelled marijuana coming from a car they were in. The two players said they smoked weed that day, but Bell maintained he wasn't high when he was pulled over.

Through six games, Bell has rushed for 542 yards on 105 carries and has carried the Pittsburgh running game despite the subpar offensive line. Bell is the No. 6 ranked running back in fantasy football for Week 7 according to Fantasy Pro consensus rankings and he is the No. 4 running back in ESPN standard scoring through six games.
