Real Madrid Transfer News: David De Gea Targeted For January Transfer Bid By Carlo Ancelotti

Already boasting a pair of world-class goalkeepers, Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly in pursuit of a third. Per the Daily Express (via Goal Transfer Talk), Real Madrid is set to make a January transfer bid for Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.

Ancelotti is said to be impressed with 23-year-old's early season success at Old Trafford.

Madrid signed World Cup standout Keylor Navas in August after activating a £7.9 million release clause from Levante and subsequently jettisoned Diego Lopez to AC Milan in order to avoid an overcrowded crop of shot stoppers. The pursuit of De Gea, however, would directly contradict Ancelotti's reasoning for doing so. Having already seen Navas relegated to the bench in favor of captain Iker Casillas, more of the same would be in store for United's man between the posts.

Assuming, of course, Casillas remains a part of Madrid's plans in 2015.

Seeing limited playtime in 2013, the 33-year-old admitted he considered leaving the Spanish Capital in favor for Arsenal. "I thought about going," he told Canal Plus (via Sky Sports). "What you want is for Real Madrid to always win. But in the end, at 33 years of age, you think: Why should I [go]? I want to fight, to make a go of it, to be reborn from the ashes."

"There was a lot of talk about an offer from Arsenal," Casillas added. "But there was nothing concrete. I want to stay at Real Madrid, keep fighting here and finish my career here."

Club president Florentino Perez gave Casillas a fight with the acquisition of Keylor Navas, but De Gea's arrival will deliver a knockout blow his Real Madrid career wouldn't be able to rise from.
