Miguel Cabrera signed a 10-year contract worth nearly $292 million with the Tigers last offseason but now he is focused on the World Series.
Cabrera reportedly turned down his postseason bonus from the team and said that all he wants from this postseason is a championship ring. According to the USA Today, Max Scherzer came around collecting signatures from the team on Wednesday, but when he got to Cabrera the two-time MVP told the pitcher "I'm not signing anything.”
Catcher Victor Martinez then went and spoke to Cabrera in Spanish, but the Tigers’ first baseman stood by his stance and told Martinez "I just want the ring." Scherzer then gave up his attempt shrugged it off and said "OK, more for us.”
Cabrera was voted American League MVP in 2012 and 2013. He is also the owner of a World Series ring -- earning it in 2003 as a member of the Florida Marlins. A nine-time All-Star, Cabrera had 25 home runs, 109 RBIs and a .313 batting average during the 2014 regular season.
Last year’s postseason bonus for the Boston Red Sox came in at $307,000. The Tigers begin their pursuit of a World Series title Thursday against the Baltimore Orioles.
Here's hoping Miguel Cabrera really earns his $0 he's getting paid for the playoffs. REALLY earns it.

To think that Miguel Cabrera can turn down that much money and be fine with it just shows how much he really makes lol — Joey Lorigan (@JoeyLorigan) October 2, 2014
