Would you play yourself in fantasy football if you were an NFL athlete? That’s the question Giants tight end Larry Donnell had this past week and his decision cost him.

Donnell told The Record that he owns himself on his fantasy football team, but this past week he choose to start San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis instead. Donnell proceeded to blow up for seven catches, 54 yards and three touchdown (23 points in ESPN Standard Scoring) as opposed to Davis’ two catches for eight yards (0 points in ESPN Standard Scoring).

"Would've won if I played me," Donnell said. ”During the game, I'm like, 'Really?' That's the honest truth."

Donnell’s team includes the likes of Drew Brees, Frank Gore, Anquan Boldin and Mike Wallace, but they weren't enough this week as the tight end lost by 15. When asked about his status on his fantasy team, Donnell said he believes he earned the call up to the big leagues.

"Oh yeah, I’m in there.”

Donnell got a huge boost this week as he is currently ranked as ESPN’s No. 5 tight end for Week 5. This ranking puts Donnell in a class with the Patriots' Rob Gronkowski, Saints' Jimmy Graham and Broncos' Julius Thomas at least for one week.

The Giants beat the Washington Redskins 45-14 in Thursday Night Football and will look to go above .500 for the first time this season against the Atlanta Falcons at home.
