The Vikings and rookie Teddy Bridgewater looked impressive on Sunday as they beat the Atlanta Falcons 41-28. All was not well, however, as Bridgewater left the game with an ankle injury leaving his status for Thursday Night Football in doubt.

Bridgewater was diagnosed with an ankle sprain soon after leaving the game in the fourth quarter, and did not return. Bridgewater said the decision to play against the rival Green Bay Packers on Thursday night is out of his hands and he will see where his ankle is during the week.

"That's something that's out of my hands right now," Bridgewater said of playing Thursday. "I'm going to spend as much time as I can with [athletic trainer] Eric Sugarman and the training staff they have here. That will be a decision they can make."

"I felt what happened during the play. It was basically a non-contact injury," Bridgewater said

"I tried to make a plant move, and just rolled my ankle in a funny way. I wasn't worried at all.”

Bridgewater was impressive before leaving with the injury as he was 19 of 30 passing for 317 yards and he ran for a touchdown. The Vikings were up 38-28 when Bridgewater left the game and the team amassed 500 yards of total offense.

If the 32nd overall pick cannot play on Thursday, the Vikings will turn to former first-round pick Christian Ponder in relief. Ponder played well for the Vikings on Sunday, but the Packers could prove to be a bigger challenge.

Coach Mike Zimmer said he believes Bridgewater will play on Thursday, but the situation will be monitored closely.
