Syracuse Orange (4-0, 0-0 ACC)

No. 8 Notre Dame plays the Syracuse Orange at MetLife Stadium as they look to improve to 4-0 on the season and strengthen quarterback Everett Golson’s claim on the Heisman Trophy.

Syracuse coach Scott Shafer spoke about shutting down Golson and said it will be the determining factor in the game for the Orange.

"Everett's a great football player," Shafer said. "We knew that he had a year off last year and now all of a sudden, he's back.

"He accounts for over 62 percent of their offense when you look at both pass and run so he's the guy. He's the guy that we have to do a great job defending (against).”

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly has said all season that Golson has been more involved in the way he prepares for games and it is really showing this season.

"He's preparing so much better than he ever has, and I think it's allowing his athletic ability to shine in the game, but, again, having said that, I think there is really a lot more out there for him to accomplish," coach Brian Kelly said.

The Fighting Irish come in 3-0 after big wins against Rice, Michigan and Purdue while the Orange missed a opportunity to be 3-0 for the first time since 1991. Syracuse lost to Maryland 34-20 last weekend despite out gaining them 589-369 in total yards.

The Irish and the Orange have split the six games the two teams have played and Syracuse came out on top the last time they met in 2008
