Celtics CEO, governor, and co-owner Wyc Grousbeck has some choice words concerning captain and impending free agent Rajon Rondo.

Grousbeck appeared on WBZ-TV’s “Sports Final Overtime” and said that Rondo is “stubborn” and he doesn't see him as a player that is “coachable” despite what past coaches have said about the Celtics’ All-Star point guard.

"He's super stubborn," Grousbeck said. "I don't know how coachable he really is.

"I know if you ask [former, long-time head coach] Doc [Rivers], 'Was he the most coachable guy, or in the top half, 50 percent,' he’d say, 'No, he’s in the bottom 50 percent of being coachable.'" Grousbeck continued. "It’s hard with him.”

Rondo has faced allegations that he is a hard player to coach in the past and has had issues with coaches dating back to his time at Kentucky and Tubby Smith. Smith admitted in the past that “he couldn't stand coaching Rondo,” when asked about the point guard.

It was also reported in 2012 that Rondo and Doc Rivers had a blowout that almost came to blows between the two. Former Celtic Ray Allen had even stated that a reason that he left the Celtics was because he had "a fractured relationship with Rondo.”

The unfortunate aspect of the story is that Grousbeck didn't need to go out of his way to tell people what was already known about Rondo. The Celtics have said that they would like to keep Rondo going forward, but comments like Grousbecks’ certainly don't help Boston’s cause to keep Rondo when he becomes a free agent next summer.

Rondo will make $13 million in the final year of his contract. He averaged 11.7 points, 9.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds in 30 games last season after returning from a torn ACL in his right knee.
