The Michigan Wolverines and Texas Longhorns have announced they will play a home-and-home series in 2024 and 2027.

The teams will play in Ann Arbor for the 2024 matchup and then travel to Austin in 2027. Michigan announced the series soon after the Wolverines and Notre Dame, the two winningest programs in Division-I, decided to call their rivalry quits for the foreseeable future.

Notre Dame moved away from the rivalry quick by scheduling the Ohio State Buckeyes a home-and-home series and this looks to be Michigan’s response.

Michigan coach Brady Hoke spoke about the series and said it was a great matchup for two schools that are cornerstones of college football.

"A matchup of this magnitude doesn't come along all that often, and when it does, it's special for both programs and the great fans that support each institution," Michigan coach Brady Hoke said in a statement. "This also is a special series for all fans of college football, and I anticipate great games just like the first contest played between the two programs.”

Texas is the third winningest program in Division-I history and won the only matchup between the two teams in the 2005 Rose Bowl. The scheduled dates for the series are August 31, 2024, and September 4, 2027.

Michigan has packed their schedule ever since deciding not to play Notre Dame and will play Arkansas (2018-19), Washington (2020-21), Virginia Tech (2020-21), UCLA (2022-23) and Oklahoma (2025-26) in the next 10 to 15 years.
