The Dallas Cowboys insist they are not concerned that quarterback Tony Romo's absence from practice Wednesday due to "back tightness."

NFL.com reported that the Cowboys expect their 34-year-old quarterback to return to practice today after missing Wednesday's practice, which could put Romo's career in jeopardy after he's undergone back surgery both in the 2013 and 2014 offseasons.

"He is coming back from an injury," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said, according to the Sports Xchange. "He is working his way back through, and there have been some good things over the first couple of weeks. He, like everybody else on our team, is trying to get better - learn from the things that weren't good and try to build on the things that were.

"He's trying to get himself physically right. He goes through a process to get himself right each and every day and over the course of a week. I think it's an important thing for him try to continue to do. Hopefully, he will get better and better as the year goes on."

The recovery time from the surgery in Romo's case could be offset by the rigors of the 16-game NFL season. He has been sacked seven times combined in the first two games. NFL.com also is speculating that Romo's arm strength is not what it was last season.

"We charted a very high number of inaccurate throws," NFL.com stated. "Romo is no longer going deep as much and he hasn't made quick decisions. We are hardly experts on quarterback mechanics, but it looks like Romo has lost a few MPH on his fastball."

The Sports Xchange added that Romo missed seven practices in training camp as well. The quarterback said all the work he's put in led to tightness, which he said he anticipates happening from time to time.

"I think the tightness just happens from based off volume of things you've done," said Romo, who had surgery Dec. 27 to repair a herniated disk in his back. "Obviously, a lot of throwing we've done over the last few weeks. That part of it. And then just wanting to have the ability to always make sure that you feel good going into the rest of the week. I'll be back. I'm good to go."

But the Cowboys' run-pass balance this season has been 50-50, according to the Dallas Cowboys' website (66 rushes and 66 passes).
