Now that the NFL has handled the Adrian Peterson child abuse situation, they are turning their sights to Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy and his domestic violence charge.

In light of Peterson being placed on the NFL’s exempt/commissioner's permission list, the Panthers are expected to do the same with Hardy or face a backlash from the media and league sponsors.

If the Panthers choose to put Hardy on the exempt list, the team usually has the option if they want to pay the player while he misses time. The Panthers might not be so lucky though, because Hardy’s entire $13.116 million salary is guaranteed due the franchise tag.

NFL Passes New Drug Policy; Three Players Reinstated

Greg Hardy has already been found guilty of domestic battery against his ex-girlfriend, but chose to appeal the ruling. The team was allowing Hardy to play while his appeal is heard, but in light of the NFL’s recent issues with domestic violence the team could opt to ban him.

Hardy is coming off a 15-sack campaign in 2013 and is seen as one of the better pass rushers in the NFL. If Hardy is allowed to return to the football field after this situation is over, he will become an unrestricted free agent in 2015.
