The Minnesota Vikings are taking a lot of heat concerning the Adrian Peterson child abuse situation and there are reports that the team is looking to trade the Pro Bowl running back.

According to the New York Post, the Vikings are keeping all options on the table except cutting Peterson outright. The Post reports that the team might seriously explore trading Peterson if the child abuse allegations continue to escalate.

NFL Drug Policy to be Finalized Within 24 Hours

“An NFL source familiar with the thinking of the Vikings’ ownership group said Sunday the only certainty is Peterson won’t be released because of his shocking indictment Friday afternoon.

But everything else — including the long-shot possibility of a trade — is still on the table after the Minnesota star was arrested and jailed over the weekend for allegedly injuring his 4-year-old son last May by brutally beating him with a thin tree limb while the child was naked.”

The issue with the Vikings’ logic in this situation is that if the situation with Peterson begins to escalate, he will likely have little to no trade value. Peterson is an incredible running back and has been the best in the NFL for most of his career, but with all the media baggage that comes with this situation, he could be damaged goods.

The Cowboys could still be interested in the 29-year-old running back seeing how Jerry Jones revealed that he and Peterson had a talk on the phone this offseason. In the conversation, Jones claims that Peterson told the Cowboy owner that he wanted to play for the Cowboys.

The Vikings activated Peterson after he missed one game due to the allegations against him and defended their decision in a press conference on Monday. Peterson is the ninth-ranked fantasy running back for Week 9, according to Fantasy Pros.
