Purdue Boilermakers (1-1, 0-0 Big Ten)
No. 11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (-27.5)(2-0)

The Fighting Irish play another Big Ten team in Purdue after topping their hated rival Michigan Wolverines in the most lopsided game in series history.

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said that the Irish will not pump the breaks after their huge Week 2 win and said that beating Purdue would solidify an in-state rivalry.

"It's an in-state rival. Just throw out all that's happened before," Kelly said. "They just play very well and with great enthusiasm.”

Everett Golson is back in midseason for for the Irish and is playing himself into the Heisman conversation. Golson has thrown for 521 yards with five touchdowns and no turnovers in the Irish first two games and Kelly clarified that Golson will not change his style as he gets more media attention.

"I don't believe if he's on the Heisman list that's going to change what he does in his preparation," Kelly said. "... I think he's grounded enough that he knows what he needs to do to get better.”

Purdue comes in after a loss to Central Michigan and added to the terrible weekend the Big Ten had in Week 2. Purdue will look to collapse the pocket as they have done all season and hit the Irish hard early.

Purdue won the only other meeting between the two when they played in Indianapolis in 1984. The Boilermakers won that game 23-21 and knocked the No. 8 Irish back to earth.
