No. 3 Alabama put on a much better showing in Week 2 as opposed to Week 1 and got leapfrogged by Oregon for their troubles. Now the Crimson Tide face Southern Miss before opening up their SEC conference schedule.

Coach Nick Saban spoke about the quarterback situation of the Crimson Tide and said that the media has made more out of it than anyone.

"I know that you all (reporters) would love to create a quarterback controversy," Saban said. "But I think as much as you might try to do that, the one thing that I noticed that I wish you noticed is that after Jake Coker's touchdown pass, who was the first guy to go jump up and give him a congratulations and a hug and all that? Blake Sims. Both guys are working to improve. We need them both to work to improve. Both players did good things in the game and both players did things that they can improve on.”

The Tide dropped in the AP Poll after a win for the third time in the Nick Saban era and both other times (2009 and 2011) the team won the national championship. This is Alabama’s last game before opening up their SEC schedule and will see No. 14 Ole Miss, No. 7 Texas A&M and No. 10 LSU in the next six weeks.

Alabama has a 33-6-2 series lead over Southern Miss all-time and haven’t played since Alabama’s 30-21 victory in 2005.
