It is expected that Atlanta Hawks majority owner Bruce Levenson will sell the team in the near future after revealing that he sent racist emails in the past, but will the new owner take the club to Seattle?
The city of Atlanta hasn't been very kind to the Hawks and vice versa the past 10 years, and a new owner could look to pick up and leave. The first place that comes to mind when talking relocation within the NBA is Seattle.
Rant Sports has a similar theory about the Atlanta Hawks becoming the Seattle Hawks and it makes sense on paper.
“Seattle has been searching since 2008 for a way to purchase another NBA team since their former club, the Seattle Supersonics, left for Oklahoma City. Atlanta has struggled for the past decade to fill its seats despite having good teams every year. There simply isn’t enough support for a pro-basketball team. The Atlanta Falcons, Braves, and collegiate powerhouses of the Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech are well supported by fans in Georgia. The Hawks, on the other hand, suffer the same lack of support as the former NHL club Thrashers, which has since left for Canada.”
Other potential landing spots for the Hawks if they choose to leave could be a return to St. Louis. The team won their lone championship in St. Louis and it would help the team stay in the Eastern Conference.

The Hawks are expected to be sold within the next year and then all the major decisions will be made after they are purchased. The Hawks should sell for a rather large amount, but will most likely not come close to the $2 billion the Los Angeles Clippers sold for.
