The Atlanta Hawks are in need of a new owner after Bruce Levenson's offensive comments, and NBA legend Dominique Wilkins might be the perfect man for the job.
Atlanta Hawks Owner Bruce Levenson to Sell Team After Racist Email
According to TMZ Sports, Wilkins is "extremely interested" in becoming the next owner of the team with which he played for 12 years of his NBA career.
"We're told Wilkins -- who has amassed his own small fortune over the years -- has partnered up with a 'very well-known businessman' who believes Wilkins would be the best person to lead the Hawks back to NBA glory," the report said.

Levenson will sell his controlling interest in the team after self-reporting an email he wrote in August 2012 that contained racially offensive comments. He made the league aware of the email in July and an independent investigation was started. In a statement, Levenson said the email he sent to co-owners and general manager Danny Ferry was about how to increase fan attendance at Hawks games and ways to improve Atlanta's racial sports divide.
Wilkins was a nine-time All Star with the Hawks and is one of just four players to have his jersey retired by the team. He is known as one of the greatest dunkers in NBA history and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
TMZ states he has already been pre-approved for ownership by the NBA. In the wake of the Levenson controversy Hawks fans would likely welcome Wilkins as an owner, but it will all come down to how much money he is able to spend. It is not yet known who else is in the running to buy the team.
