Tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET the New York Giants (0-0) will open up the 2014 season against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in the opening Monday Night Football clash of the year on ESPN. Fans can live stream the game free by clicking this link; Giants fans can listen to the radio broadcast on 101.9 WFAN, while Lions fans may do the same on WXYT 1270.

One of the preseason's biggest storylines was the New York Giants' inability to move the football in new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo's new offense. Quarterback Eli Manning had a rough preseason, and admitted there's much improvement to make, but he also claimed the G-Men are expecting to win tonight.

"Don't get me wrong, we're ready for Week 1," Manning said. "But I think as a season goes on, you're always looking to improve, whether you've been in a system for 10 years or whether you have young guys and need guys to step up or you have new players, there's always room for improvement."

They will be down a potentially crucial weapon in the matchup though, as injury-plagued rookie receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will not be active for this tilt due to a nagging hamstring injury.

On defense though, they will have to figure out a way to stop Calvin Johnson, who says Detroit is hellbent on erasing last year's collapse from their memory.

"We're incredibly motivated after what happened last year," Johnson said. "We know what we had in our grasp, but there were so many games down the stretch that we couldn't finish. We learned from that, and we're in a position now that we can win those games and get into the playoffs. Once you get in, anything can happen."
