No. 3 Oregon Ducks (-12.0) (1-0, 0-0 Pac-12)

This is the game of the week as the Michigan State defense meets the Oregon offense and the winner has the inside track on being in the college football playoff.

These two teams have the first real opportunity of the college football season to impress the selection committee. A solid showing will go a long way for both teams and MichiganState coach Mark Dantonio stressed taking advantage of the situation.

"This is an opportunity early in the season to see where we're at as a program," said Dantonio, "Win or lose, we still have a lot of football games ahead of us, and we have to understand that that's every bit as important as this one single game.”

Sparty will have the tall task of trying to slow down, Heisman hopeful and potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft, Marcus Mariota. Mariota looked to be in solid form last week as he threw for 276 yards and three scores while rushing for another 43 yards and a score.

Both teams enter the matchup 1-0 after warmup matches against subpar competition and the Ducks open up as a 12 point favorite.

These two teams have met only four times and the series is tied 2-2. Michigan State came out on top of their last meeting in 1999 by the score of 27-20.
