Whispers of the Boston Celtics trading Rajon Rondo have picked up steam in the past few days and potential trade partners are starting to emerge.

One team that could potentially use Rondo the most, yet no one is talking about, is the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers have looked for a point guard most the offseason and have even offered up center Roy Hibbert in their pursuit. The Pacers offered Hibbert to the Suns for Goran Dragic before any deal collapsed, so why not substitute Dragic with Rondo?

Eric Bledsoe to the Houston Rockets Depends on Money?

Fan Sided agrees that a Hibbert for Rondo swap could work for both teams.

“Larry Bird has made it clear that the Pacers will not be tanking this year, and he seems willing to ship Roy Hibbert away, as he reportedly offered the All-Star center for Greg Monroe and Goran Dragic at different points in the summer.

A straight-up swap with Rondo and Hibbert works, but Ainge may want more than that, given that Roy can opt out of his contract next summer. And Bird might not be willing to give up more than that.

Yes, he reportedly did offer up Chris Copeland and some cash along with Big Roy for Dragic, but Dragic will also only make $7.5 million this upcoming season. Acquiring talent is on Bird’s mind, but so is having some more cushion with the salary cap.”

The Celtics are expected to hold onto Rondo for the time being and he has made it known that he would be interested in riding out the season with Boston before testing free agency. If the Celtics' season starts to head south around the trade deadline, you can bet that Boston will look into any and all trades as to not lose Rondo for nothing.

The Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets are other teams tied to Rondo.
