As Rajon Rondo’s availability comes into question, the Houston Rockets acquired Jason Terry from the Sacramento Kings for guard/forward Alonzo Gee.

Does Rajon Rondo Want Out of Boston?

Both the Kings and Rockets are teams that have been rumored to be interested in the Celtics point guard, but this move could be a sign that the Rockets don’t have the pieces or salary cap space to pull off such a move. The Kings on the other hand could still pull together the pieces to make a move on the All-Star point guard.

The Rockets have been in the market for a point guard all offseason as they had been rumored to be interested in a sign-and-trade with the Milwaukee Bucks for free agent Ramon Sessions. Trading for Terry gives the Rockets a solid guard behind starter Patrick Beverley as well as getting rid of a contract they did not want on the books.

Eric Bledsoe the Rockets Best Chance at a 'Big Three'

The 36-year-old Terry played for the Brooklyn Nets for most of the 2013-14 season and averaged 4.5 points in 35 games. He was traded to the Kings at the trade deadline and missed the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The Rockets also received two second-round draft picks in the transaction and sent at least one other non-guaranteed contract to Sacramento. The Rockets acquired Gee in the three-team trade that landed Trevor Ariza in Houston back in July.

In the past the Rockets and Kings were seen as the most likely suitors for Rondo but they have traded all the assets that the Celtics coveted. Gone are Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin on the Rockets and gone is Isaiah Thomas of the Kings in previous trades.
