Marcus Mariota starts his Heisman Trophy campaign and the Oregon Ducks look to start the season on a high note against the South Dakota Coyotes.

Mariota has had a lot of time on his hands to focus on football seeing how his course load for the semester consists of yoga and golf. Mariota achieved his degree in three years from Oregon, but the Heisman hopeful says that the reduced course load will help him focus on football and a national championship.

"With the amount of free time I'll have, it will mean being early in the treatment room, remaining healthy and doing recovery stuff, and along with that film work and being around the building more to do that kind of thing. To be able to have a little more time for football it will really be beneficial to me," he said.

Mariota set the school record for yards in a season with 4,380 (3,665 passing and 715 rushing) and added 40 touchdowns. Mariota is out for blood this season as the Ducks fell short of the national championship in 2013 and lost the two games in which Mariota was injured last season.

South Dakota of the FCS' Missouri Valley Conference finished 4-8 in 2013 and allowed an average of 412.0 yards during a five-game losing streak to end the 2013 season.

This game will be a tune up for the Ducks as they face their first test of the season against the No. 8 Michigan State Spartans next week.
